About the Project

Premier Inn is expanding rapidly across Ireland as it targets 2,500 bedrooms in Dublin and other major towns and cities across the country. The site at Morrison’s Quay in Cork has an extensive history in hospitality dating back to the 1960s. Construction commenced in September 2021 and great care was taken to preserve the three buildings on site.

The development incorporates a 187 bed Premier Inn hotel with restaurant and public bar, along with three new own door office buildings.

IN2 were appointed to this project to carry out in-depth Sunlight & Daylight Analysis to assess the potential impact on daylight and sunlight to existing properties as a result of the proposed development. These extensive analysis ensure that the project would successfully obtain planning permission. The analysis are carried out by running simulations and analysing results comparing to BRE best practice standards.

The massing of this development has been developed to ensure impact of daylight and sunlight to neighbouring buildings is minimised whilst keeping with the scale and low-rise massing of the surrounding buildings in line with BRE best practice guidelines.
